Tessa McCaide has a unique talent for getting into trouble. Then again, it isn’t easy for a girl with visions to ignore what she sees. Luckily Tessa and her family are leaving California and moving halfway across the country, giving her the perfect opportunity to leave her reputation as “Freaky Tessa” behind.

But Tessa doesn’t realize that kissing the wrong guy in her new Texas town could land her in far more trouble than she ever imagined. Like being forced to attend St. Ailbe’s Academy, a secret boarding school for werewolves.

Even if the wrong guy did accidentally turn her into one of “them” and doom her to attending the weirdest high school ever, Tessa can’t help her growing attraction to the mysterious Dastien Laurent.

When vampires attack St. Alibe’s and her visions pinpoint an enemy in their midst, Tessa realizes that boy drama and her newfound canine tendencies might just be the least of her problems.

A combination of danger and mystery with a dash of fun sarcastic comments, this story will have you laughing your head off one moment to feeling the hairs on your arms stand on-end with fear the next. The cover highlights the mystery and eeriness of the story... and WEREWOLVES! Oh, how I love a good werewolf story!

Tessa has always had a talent, but she has always be labelled 'Freaky Tessa' when she accidentally slips. And she always avoids questions centred around her gloves. But when the irresistible Dastien came along (I can't blame the girl!), she just can't resist. But she got turned into a werewolf and I don't think that was what she expected. Additionally, because she is now a werewolf, she must now attend the world famous (amongst werewolves obviously) St. Alibe's school to learn to control her inner beast... but will her original gift and family origin become an advantage or a disadvantage.

Tessa is a fun and happy character whom is a joy to read about. She doesn't put up with anything, being strong and sarcastic made her straight away a character who I wanted to learn more about. Not to mention her love for books and listening to BBC Radio One. I was fully expected her to become whiney and a trial to read about, however, she did have her moments but ones of which could be expected. And behind it all... I think she kind of likes being a werewolf. Furthermore, she is a protagonist who you cannot forget easily with her sarcastic and hilarious attitude; she stands her ground but in a memorable way, meaning I did laugh-out-loud (earning myself a few crazy looks!).

Her relationship aspect of this novel was not as I anticipated; however I was pleasantly surprised, due to the fact that I felt it played a very important role during the novel and the way it is not hinted in the blurb... I feel you have to read it yourself to appreciate how cleverly Aileen has snuck it in.

The plot was engaging and imaginative, allowing you to truly picture the scenes in your mind. I additionally enjoyed the way Aileen had added her own views and twists on a werewolves life, just the little things such as their eating habits really added a sense of realistic-ness to the story. Furthermore the insight into the rules of werewolves and The 7 really added a sense of danger and dread in the pit of your stomach.

This is a fun and engaging read that will explore new and unique ideas on the life of a werewolf and vampires, for example, did you know: That their scent hurts a werewolves nose because of their rotting, dead flesh? Nope, neither did I; but it does make perfect sense! I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series, Avoiding Alpha and hopefully Tessa doesn't make too much of a habit of jumping out of windows every chance she gets!
